What are vascular lesions?
Vascular lesions, such as rosacea , ruby spots , telangiectasias (small visible veins) and other localized redness , are common aesthetic problems that can affect the appearance of the skin. These imperfections are often due to poor blood circulation, age, genetic predispositions or environmental factors such as sun exposure. In the office, two modern technologies such as the Nd-Yag laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) make it possible to effectively treat these vascular lesions.
The different types of lasers used in the office
Nd-Yag laser
This laser emits light at a specific wavelength (1064 nm) capable of penetrating deep into the skin, targeting hemoglobin without damaging surrounding tissue.
Indications :
Rosacea (localized redness on the cheeks and nose)
Telangiectasias (small superficial veins visible on the face and legs)
Rosacea (chronic skin condition causing redness and visible blood vessels)
- Vascular spots (ruby red or blue spots on the skin due to poor circulation)
Benefits :
Treatment of semi-deep and superficial vascular lesions.
Safe and effective for all skin phototypes.
Visible results after a few sessions.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses broad-spectrum light that specifically targets melanin and hemoglobin in dilated blood vessels. IPL is an effective method for treating superficial vascular lesions and is ideal for small blood vessels such as rosacea or telangiectasias on the face. IPL works by heating blood vessels, causing them to clot and gradually disappear.
Indications
Rosacea and diffuse redness on the face (cheeks, nose, chin and neck areas)
Telangiectasias (small visible red or blue veins)
Slight superficial varicose veins on the face
- Erythrosis (redness linked to cutaneous hypertension)
Benefits
Fast and non-invasive treatment.
Suitable for superficial vascular lesions and diffuse redness.
No severe pain or prolonged side effects.
- Typically quick sessions with minimal downtime.
Course of treatment sessions
- Initial consultation : During your first consultation, a personalized assessment will be carried out to determine the type of vascular lesions to be treated and choose the most appropriate technology (Nd-Yag or IPL).
- The treatment :
Nd-Yag Laser : The skin is cleansed, and protective goggles are provided. The laser is applied to the targeted areas. You will feel a slight warming sensation, often compared to a slight pinch.
IPL : Contact gel is applied to the skin before the IPL acts on the targeted areas. You may feel a slight sensation of warmth or tingling.
- After the sessions : After each treatment, the skin may experience slight redness or swelling, which generally disappears within a few hours. It is imperative to avoid sun exposure and to moisturize the skin well, as well as to apply SPF 50+ the rest of the year.
Results and maintenance
Results are visible after 2 to 3 weeks , depending on the type of lesion treated. The treated blood vessels gradually reabsorb, and the skin regains a more even complexion. Several sessions are necessary for optimal results.
Depending on your skin's needs, an annual or biannual maintenance session may be recommended to maintain clear, redness-free skin.
